Cary continues to be the favorite city amongst New Yorkers.
When Rob and I made the decision to relocate to the Tri-Angle area, we chose to make Cary, North Carolina our new home. Being from Long Island, New York ourselves it was comical to hear from the locals say, “Do you know what CARY stands for?” Containment Area for Relocating Yankees, we laughed and knew we made the right choice.
Being real estate brokers with years of relocation experience, we have helped many people relocate to North Carolina, from various parts of the country and one thing we notice is Cary continues to be the favorite city amongst New Yorkers. If you’re wondering why, here are the top five reasons New Yorkers have made Cary their hometown.
QUALITY OF LIKE
One of the main reasons why New Yorkers relocate to Cary is because of the quality of life that the town offers. Cary has consistently been ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States. Ranked by Money Magazine among the “Best Small Cities in America”, and consistently named in the “Top 10 Safest Cities in the US” by the SafeWise organization. Its also the home to the USA Baseball National Training Complex and National soccer teams. Daily groceries are a quick trip down the road, and Downtown cafés like Esteemed Coffee offer the perfect feel-good pick me up.
Additionally, Cary has a vibrant arts and culture scene, with numerous parks, recreational facilities, and green spaces. Annual events like the Dragon Boat Festival, Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, and Winter Wonderland at Bond Park delight locals and visitors alike. Life here prioritizes easy-going attitudes and sweet serendipity.
Another reason why New Yorkers relocate to Cary is because of the affordability of housing. The cost of living in Cary is much lower compared to New York City, which makes it an attractive option for those looking to buy a home or rent an apartment.
Cary is where luxury living and endless leisure meet. Buyers can expect to see contemporary communities, alongside historic neighborhoods – each charming in their own ways. The homes are chic, the neighborhoods are connected, and public parks are on every corner.
Luxury custom homes from striking estates to mid-century modern creations make up some of Cary’s most coveted communities including Preston, Lochmere, and MacGregor Downs. These neighborhoods curate a country-club-inspired lifestyle – boasting endless accessibility, natural lakes, and community amenities ranging from post pools to golf greens! Growing neighborhoods like Regency and Cary Park are sought after for their family-friendly appeal and contemporary yet comfortable selection of single-family homes, townhomes, and condos.
Additionally, property taxes in Cary are relatively low, making it an affordable option for homeowners.
